CAPISHCA

Origen

The word "capishca" comes from the Quichua verb capina, which means to squeeze. It comes from the central-southern Ecuadorian highlands. It is a very cheerful dance, which is danced mainly in the provinces of Azuay, Chimborazo.

Characteristics

​

It is a lively and moving mestizo rhythm with a rhythmic structure in a minor key very similar to the albazo, where the physical aptitude of the dancing couple is put to the test by making passes and entrances with displays of mischievousness and gallantry.
